Christmas Theme Wedding
Having a Christmas or Holiday themed winter
wedding is a great way to celebrate the peace and joy of the
winter holidays and make your wedding memorable. While in the
past it was not considered proper to schedule a wedding to
coincide with the winter holidays, these days it is becoming
increasingly acceptable, even fashionable, to hold your wedding
during the winter holidays. When most people think of a winter
wedding they immediately envision a Christmas or holiday
wedding. There are several different ways to approach a
Christmas wedding without looking campy or over the top.
Choose an elegant Christmas wedding.
A beautiful option for a Christmas wedding
is to make everything very formal and elegant. Think black tie
and evening dress and all of the elegance of a grand ball. You
could decorate the church with white lights and white satin
bunting and you could also trim the pews with gold ribbons. Pin
a few sprigs of holly or even mistletoe to the gold ribbons for
a pretty effect. Dress your attendants in elegant evening wear
and wear a glamorous vintage style gown to go with the elegant
theme. Make sure to include some sort of wrap, like an elegant
white pashmina wool wrap, for your attendants or for yourself
to make sure that you aren’t freezing during the ceremony. At
the reception, have a large natural Christmas tree in the
corner of the room decorated with ropes of white lights and
pretty little gold bows. Decorate the tables with large bowls
containing gold floating candles and white rose petals.
As a wedding favor, give guests a small gold
Christmas ornament inscribed with the date of the wedding and
your names. Many gift stores have inexpensive Christmas
ornaments that are lovely and they will often engrave them for
a reasonable cost. That way, guests will have a lovely keepsake
reminder from your wedding. Box up all the ornaments, one for
each guest, in a white box with a gold ribbon, and pile them
under the Christmas tree. At the end of the reception invite
each guest to pick their own “present” from under the tree.
If you want to take the time to put each
guests name on a box it would add a personal touch, but it’s
just as easy to let people to pick any box from under the tree.
An elegant Christmas wedding with simple, tasteful decorations
in white and gold doesn’t have to be expensive. If you are
creative you can have a gorgeous and elegant Christmas wedding
even if you’re on a tight budget.
