If you have more
whimsical tastes, there are plenty of fun theme weddings that
can be done in the winter that don’t work at any other time of
the year. One of the most fun and whimsical winter wedding
themes is a Jack Frost/Fairy fantasy theme wedding. Usually,
this theme works best in the dead of winter, when everyone is
sick and tired of the cold and snow and could use a reminder of
how magical the winter can be. The Jack Frost/Fairy theme can
also be used in early December, just before everyone starts
gearing up for the Christmas holidays. For this theme, having
snow and ice is a requirement so you’ll need to hold the
wedding and reception somewhere where it will be cold and
snowy. If you’ve ever wanted to be a fairy princess this is the
wedding theme for you!
For a Jack Frost/Fairy theme wedding, think
of all the sparkle and whimsy of winter. Colors should be cool
blues, pale purples, silver, and, of course, white. There
should be sparkles everywhere! To decorate the church or
wedding hall, cover anything that stands still in white satin
with sparkly silver ribbons. Flowers should be cool colored.
White roses and calla lilies with baby’s breath make a
beautiful bridal bouquet. To decorate the church and to add
color to the bridal bouquet or hall, use white and pale purple
carnations or white and pale purple roses. Lavender roses can
be difficult to find, but are stunning when used in a bridal
bouquet.
Keep your dress soft and gauzy, appropriate
for a fairy princess. A corseteddress with layers of chiffon
covered in silver embroidery is a beautiful choice for a Jack
Frost/Fairy theme wedding. Have the men dress in fairy costume
style clothing if you can get them to agree to it, but since
most fairy costumes involve tights they might not be too
agreeable to that. If they refuse the fairy finery, choose
classic tuxedos with silver or purple vests.
Decorating the reception hall for a Jack
Frost/Fairy theme wedding is lots of fun.Make sure that the
reception hall has lots of windows. If there is no real ice to
coat the windows, buy spray on ice from a craft store that can
be sprayed on windows and walls to give an ice effect. Cover
the walls with white paper and spray the fake ice on the walls,
or draw murals on the paper to give the effect of being inside
an ice castle. Make snowflakes out of tin foil or foil paper
and hang them from the ceiling.
